A public health emergency is an event that could affect the health and safety of the community, and can be natural or man-made. These events can include:
- Outbreaks;
- Accidental releases of industrial chemicals;
- Intentional acts with biological, chemical, radiological, or nuclear agents; and
- Natural disasters, such as tornadoes, floods, wildfires, and hurricanes.
